And, at 10 inches wide and 4 inches deep, this is to date, October 2016, the largest bowl piece I have ever made. Even with no wall being greater than 1/2 inch thick, the piece retains an impressive heft.

This large Cherry bowl finished brilliantly with my go-to finish for Cherry, Cherry Watco Danish Oil. This oil soaks into the wood itself instead of just residing on the surface, and hardens and cures over time to provide a deep and lasting protection as well as a pleasing visual experience.
I am quite pleased with the end result of working with this large Cherry bowl blank. Now that I have some experience working with larger pieces I will not be so hesitant to go large in the near future.
