The two bowls, or dishes if you will, are from two of my favorite woods, Pecan and Black Walnut. Both are small in size, measuring 5.5″ x 2″ but both have some interesting features including sapwood edges. These dishes were easy to make, requiring literally a matter of about 15-20 minutes each. I look forward to working through these small blanks to arrive at more substantial work but I will follow my long held process of working from smallest to largest. Only 61 more to go!
All cuts were made using the Easy Wood Tool system on my Robust American Beauty lathe. Forward chucking was in a Nova Chuck, while reverse chucking was done using a Nova Chuck with Cole Jaws. Sanding was with Gold and Green Wave sanding discs from Packard Woodworks. Final finish is Shellawax.
