I have a stack of 11 green turned bowls that have been drying for anywhere from 3 years to 6 months so I decided to finish them and started with this three:<\/p>\n

Left to Right: Walnut, Bradford Pear, Sycamore<\/p><\/div>\n

I did the Bradford Pear<\/a> first and it was heavily warped into an oval so I was worried about getting it round and having enough material left. It ended up pretty thin but it managed. The Bradford Pear is rather soft and plain but it is still not a bad look little piece. It was finished with Shellawax<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Next I finished up the Sycamore<\/a>. Sycamore is almost always a nice wood to work with. It cuts easily and it has such a pronounced ray fleck pattern that some call it lacewood or leopard wood, although there are other woods from South American also called those names. It was finished with Shellawax.<\/p>\n

Finally I finished up with the Black Walnut<\/a>. This piece of walnut was very plain but of a nice dark color. It was finished with Watco Danish Oil Natural<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I am almost done with a green turned Holly bowl that should be done tomorrow.<\/p>\n

All of the work on these green turned items was done on my Robust American Beauty<\/a> lathe using Easy Wood Tools<\/a> cutters. Sanding was with Gold and Green Wave discs from Packard Woodworks<\/a>.
