There is nothing wrong with Sassafras as a wood but it really isn’t the ideal turning wood.\u00a0 The texture is coarse, the grain is open, and the wood is ultimately plain in appearance, a perfect stand in for Ash for example.\u00a0 When turned, the end grain areas become very raised and this is common with coarse textured woods such as Ash or Oak, fine woods with many excellent applications, but turned items isn’t really one of them.\u00a0 And they are plain to look at as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":175,"featured_media":3038,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[135,128,136,137,129,138,139],"tags":[154,168,171,181,183,271,200,210,230,239,240,241],"yoast_head":"\n
