2019 Christmas Bowls

For some time now I have made a set of bowls for my sister to give as holiday gifts to some members of her staff and to the board members in her school district.

This is the set for 2019.

2019 Christmas Bowls

All of the bowls are turned from Black Cherry that was sourced from Got Wood? in South Carolina.  The blanks were kiln dried before shipping to me.

Two of the bowls measure 8″x2″ and the remaining seven measure 9″x2″.

The bowls were turned on my American Beauty lathe from Robust.

All of the turning was done using Easy Wood Tools.

Bowls were mounted on Nova Chucks from Teknatool.

Sanding discs were sourced from Packard Woodworks.

The final finish is Watco Cherry Danish Oil.

I have worked a great with Black Cherry and it is one of my favorite woods to turn.  Amazingly, I encountered no difficulties or disasters in the process of making these Christmas bowls.  I have several more projects waiting in the wings so I am ready to move on from here.
