Unknown Bowl #3

This the third bowl in the set of 73 that I have recently chosen to work on that the identity of the wood remains unknown.  This blank was marked Cebil, but I am essentially certain that this is NOT Cebil and I have zero idea why it ever ended up labeled that way.

This is a turning blank of real Cebil, also known as Patagonian Rosewood or Curupay, courtesy of West Penn Hardwoods:

And this is the bowl I made:

Unknown #3

I think that it is simple for anyone to see that the bowl, whatever it happens to be,  is not likely to be Cebil!  To my eye, and that isn’t much to go on, the bowl most closely resembles Mimosa but I am still not convinced that it is is Mimosa.

The bowl cut very cleanly and required very little sanding.  There was no odor at all.  The finish went on quite easily and it took a nice shine.  It also has some subtle ribbon figure as well.

If anyone has any ideas of suggestions about Unknown #3, please let me know!

All cuts were made using the Easy Wood Tool system on my Robust American Beauty lathe.  Forward chucking was in a Nova Chuck, while reverse chucking was done using a Nova Chuck with Cole Jaws.  Sanding was with Gold and Green Wave sanding discs and Abranet from Packard Woodworks.  Final finish is Shellawax.

As always, I wish all my readers a great experience in whatever your wood working interests happen to be and to those who like working with lathes especially, do a good turn today!
