Marblewood Bowl #2

I have covered the details of Marblewood in the past so I won’t repeat that information here.

I recall enjoying the experience of working with Marblewood in the past and I am pleased to say that I enjoyed working with it again in this much larger bowl blank format.

Marblewood

Marblewood does cut slowly but it also cut remarkably clean and required very little sanding to achieve a fine finish.  This piece has excellent marbling figure and due to the density of Marblewood it has heft in the hand.  I can recommend Marblewood to any experienced turner who might be interested in trying it.

All cuts were made using the Easy Wood Tool system on my Robust American Beauty lathe.  Forward chucking was in a Nova Chuck, while reverse chucking was done using a Nova Chuck with Cole Jaws.  Sanding was with Gold and Green Wave sanding discs from Packard Woodworks.  Final finish is Shellawax.

As always, I wish all my readers a great experience in whatever your wood working interests happen to be and to those who like working with lathes especially, do a good turn today!
